Mirrodin Besieged Visual Spoilers #1

Mirrodin Besieged is a Magic: The Gathering expansion set scheduled to be released February 4, 2011. It is the second set of the Scars of Mirrodin block. This block will mark the return to the plane of Mirrodin, that was last visited in the Mirrodin block that concluded in 2004. The interim tagline for the set is "Steel Yourself for War." The Mirrodin Besieged Prereleases will be held on January 29–30, 2011. These will be different from other prereleases in that there will be special Mirrodin Besieged boosters that will be only available for the prerelease. These boosters will be composed exclusively of cards from either the Mirran or the Phyrexian faction. A player will have to choose one of these sides upon entering the prerelease and will receive corresponding boosters.

Scars of Mirrodin Planeswalker: Venser, the Sojourner

The other Scars of Mirrodin planeswalker, besides Koth and the new Elspeth. Venser, the Sojourner might be a good addition to control decks. Or it might be quite unplayable. It's early to say.

Scars of Mirrodin Planeswalker: Koth of the Hammer

Here's the first Planeswalker from Scars of Mirrodin, named Koth of the Hammer. A great addition to red decks. It looks good and will work great in mono-red decks. It burns like a lava.

Archenemy Details and Rules

Archenemy is the name of the new Magic: The Gathering variant. It was announced couple of months ago and we almost got no details until now. I got an e-mail from Wizards with the following link and content. Let's see what it says:

"We told you about its unique "One vs. Many" game play, allowing you to face off against as many of your friends as your kitchen table can hold. We told you about the four different game packs, each with a 60-card Magic deck and a 20-card deck of oversized cards, and we even showed you the themes of the four decks. What we haven't yet done, because we're cagey like that, is tell you what exactly these oversized cards are, and how they'll help you with the daunting task of taking out a team of opposing Planeswalkers. Now that we're closer to the release, it's time to pull back the curtain!"

If you want to read more details, rules and see some cool card art, check out this link. Looks interesting, I must say, but I'm not sure how players will embrace it. The pack will cost $19.99 and it's going to be released on June 18, this year.

October 2010: Scars of Mirrodin

The new Magic: The Gathering block is coming in October 2010, when Shards of Alara rotates out of Standard. The set, codenamed "Light" is revealed to be Scars of Mirrodin. The logo and expansion symbol are known.

There will be 249 cards, including lands. The release date is October 1st, 2010.
It's good to see that Wizards are re-visiting old planes like Mirrodin. It was an outstanding plane, making the Artifacts stronger than ever. I just hope they will be re-visiting good old planes in the future. Can't wait for this one.

Gideon Jura: Rise of the Eldrazi planeswalker

We got the first Rise of the Eldrazi planeswalker. His name's Gideon Jura and he's a pretty much a badass. A nice addition to white Kor/Soldier decks. I can already see the synergy with Angelic Benedition. There will be three planeswalkers according to the Orb of Insight.
